This is the process by which you discuss with a legal professional, possibly in conjunction with your accountant, how to structure your current assets as well as how these assets will be distributed upon your passing. For many this is a difficult conversation to have with yourself; it makes you think of the frailty of life and that can be scary. There are many estate planning tools to achieve security for your family once you’ve gone. Having an estate plan protects your family from the dreaded Court battles and process by clearly outlining how your estate should be handled.  If you have minor children your estate plan should also include the appropriate designations for who would be responsible for them in the event of your passing. There are also certain documents that can ensure you are taken care of by the person and in the manner you desire should you become injured or sick and are unable to care for yourself.
